Neil and Joanna
Neil has performed as a soloist in both Christian and secular settings.

We are both graduates of Laidlaw College and are Bible-believing disciples who trust in Christ Jesus our Redeemer.

Having served in pastoral ministry for 26 years we sensed God leading us into a music ministry for churches. We love to see God minister to people through Word and song.
We have four young adult children and enjoy those special family moments when we are able to all be together.

Former International Soprano

A Quiet Journey
My first real singing events were with Hamilton Youth For Christ at the Town Hall Rallies lead by Gus Row. After singing alongside Jenny Gullen of Hoi Pollio in Youth For Christ’s musical “The Virgin And The Passion”, about Joseph, Mary and Jesus, I was forwarded to Soprano- Mona Ross (married name-Sutherland) and after auditioning began vocal training with her lasting two years. I also joined the Opera Waikato group and performed in “Plague Upon Eyam” and South Pacific”.
Despite doing well in vocal competitions, I was experiencing a strong leading away from a secular career in music towards Christian ministry. I ended up on Waiheke Island running “Campus Life” and “Rock Solid” clubs for the South Auckland “Youth for Christ” branch while working to support myself. I eventually went to BCNZ (Laidlaw College) and completed a Bachelor of Ministries Degree in Christian Education. It was there I met Joanna! I have performed a number of concerts over the years for church or community such as the one mentioned below.
Oamaru Opera House
It occurred to me that because of the refurbishments on our Opera House, many events were priced beyond the average family budget, so as a Christian Pastor I decided to do a free concert for the community. It did cost money, but the Council supported my efforts and shared the financial load. It took Joanna and I about six months to organise. As it happened, I was not well on the day of the concert and apart from a practice session, spent most of that day in bed. Despite a dry voice we made it through and gratefully, nobody seemed to notice or mind that I was not at my best. The Intermediate School Choir songs were amazing! Parents were proud and people seemed blessed!
Anzac Day Services
It was a privilege to be involved with leading the singing for the Anzac Day Services in the Waitaki.
